LeadBolt Founder & CEO Named Regional Winner in the 2013 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ awards

We are pleased to announce that our founder and CEO, Dale Carr, has been named the 2013 EY Eastern Region Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Technology category. Mr. Carr competed against an impressive field of outstanding entrepreneurs from across NSW to be nominated winner at the awards ceremony in Sydney on Thursday 29 August 2013.

Mr. Carr was honored for his entrepreneurial journey and LeadBolt’s contribution in the technology sector, bringing about a technology platform that enables a more comprehensive and efficient way for app developers to monetize their mobile product, as well as a more relevant way for advertisers to reach their intended mobile audiences.

Having spent close to a decade in the digital and mobile marketing industry, Carr foresaw the explosion of mobile apps, while also realising that the existing mobile advertising ecosystem was merely transitioning standard web advertising onto a smaller screen. This was not only ineffective and offered a poor experience for mobile users, but was not taking advantage of the inherent technological advantages that were available on mobile.

With this in mind, Carr established LeadBolt to provide a solution that would better support the app developer community and address the mobile usage boom.  The state of the mobile industry proved that the market was ripe for the offering:

  • According to The International Telecommunication Union (February 2013), the mobile phone is the most rapidly adopted technology in history. At the end of 2012, there were 6.8 billion mobile subscriptions – equivalent to 96% of the world’s population.
  • Gartner (February 2013) reports that nearly 1 billion smartphones are predicted to be sold in 2013
  • This year, smart phone users around the world will download 80 billion apps, and that number is forecasted to grow to over 300 billion by 2016 (Gartner Sept. 2012).
  • Nine out of 10 apps downloaded are free (Gartner Sept. 2012), meaning the app developers are hungry for revenue strategies.

Today LeadBolt – which was founded in 2010 and now employs 50 staff in Australia and the US — is the third most-used mobile advertising solution by app developers on the Android system, serving five billion ads a month in 100 different countries across 40,000 apps and growing.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by EY for LeadBolt’s contributions to the mobile app monetization and advertising ecosystem,” said LeadBolt’s founder and CEO Dale Carr. “It’s our privilege to help mobile app developers generate revenue from the free mobile apps we rely on every day, as well as see advertisers thrive by reaching mobile consumers.  There is no doubt that the mobile lifestyle is here to stay, and we’re committed to help fuel the economy that supports it.”
